Rogues feel underwhelming
I takes one fighter (and worker) slot and in return gives only 1 coin per kill in best case (if he manages to last hit).
Maybe rogues shouldn't do damage but continuously steal resources on hit. So you get weaker fight potential but more resources.
Or, make their hit take 2-3 remaining health so that they at least can be useful for cleaning up.
things that can be done
Ok now i played this for a bit and have the general feel of the game
-resurce system is vary simple and non dependent so while you have teammates and resaurce is confined to meadows you dont realy have to work as a team to secure them becuse unless its a
trading post you can get same thing widout fighting
:::i have seen some posts witch want to develop the system so u have to go to certain spots if you want to get a resource and than for some evan bulid object to process them (like a mill)
and with it also defensive buldings to defend it (like walls or evan like balistas to keep your enemy at bay)
and i vary mutch like them becuse it will force you to hold and defend your turf
it can evan be expanded to armories storages and blacksmith shops (witch would solve in my opinion the problem of high level players going rampage by bying a new soldier with all the equipmant as soon as they loose one and keep going)
-combat is not that interactive
basicly combat is decided before it began becuse player with more men and better equipmant will win-you can determane their setup before the fight but you cant use any active abilitys during it
i would propose that whan 2 armies engage (on command preferably) in the area around them all minion or barbarian movemant should be sloved down and you should be able to move minions at will and teach your soldiers certain tactics witch you can activate(similar to like active shock arow we currently have > to give you an edge also the arsenal should be more diverse instead of
sword>everything else(this would be extra nice whan thare are more than 2 players engaging(witch with slowed down tame will happen more often) and would also make combat look more pleasing becuse of like 3 players clash currently its clusterduck)
in case combat sugestion is aproved armies could be larger and for base bulding the map should be larger
ALSO important part of medieval strategy were rivers and hills (maybe bridge bulding and some hill related tactics (especialy for CAVLARY AND SIEGE ENGINES))
Thoughts on Game [Long Read]
This is definitely one of my more favourite IO games although after putting quite a lot of hours into it I have some suggestions.
- More Levels
It is quite disappointing to reach the level cap so quickly, I can understand not allowing players to max out every upgrade but it would be nice if there was higher tiers to the current gear
Sword Upgrades, More Shield Upgrades, More Helmet Upgrades
- Questionable Viability
I think I've put about 10-13 hours into the game and not once have I ever considered using the dagger, it sounds worthless, there needs to be more incentive. (Pen to people with shields possibly?)
Edit : I decided to hop on and try it, I stand by this opinion
- Resources
I think by expanding the resource pool, you can give more potential to Hammers, as it is right now, there isn't much need to get a hammer as it only serves to make your army weaker (trade off isn't worth it compared to hunters and axes) and money comes by easy enough with loot boxes and trading wood for gold.
This would go well with giving swords etc new tiers, you could have a new material that are gated only by hammers.
- Barbarians
First off I must say, I am in love with the fact barbarians can team up with you if you get a certain ability. Although I am not a fan that it is random, I once got 5 barbarians to team up with me to win a 2v1 and it's a shame I will never be able to replicate that. I recently noticed that right clicking your currency drops it (I literally don't think anyone knows this, no one ever does it).
My proposal would be giving barbarians either 3 meat or 3 gold makes them join your party (as long as you have the missionary ability). The ability in it's own right is powerful already, having to offer something would make it much more under the player's control but also curb the potential abusement of ability (and give validity to late game resources)
- Late Game
Inevitably, we all get here and there isn't much to do but destroy anything red on the map. It's good that you've made it so bigger armies are slower, it helps weaker armies escape.
PvE wise it's the ogre. I think adding more bosses (heck even ones that need multiple armies to take down) would do the late game some justice. The other suggestion goes back to having more levels, thus delaying the late game and in the long run, make abilities such as "getting more X resource from Y" viable.
(There should defo be an ability to increase the max cap of your army)
- Bugs
I don't know if you're aware of this yet, but if you put a shield on a soldier, you can then equip a bow to them. I am guilty of abusing this (albiet I don't know if it actually keeps the stats but I kick ass so I assume so)
As someone who works on games myself, I look forward to watching the development of this game!
TL;DR : Higher Level Cap, More incentive to use daggers and other underwhelming abilities, More Bosses, Intentional Barbarian recruiting.
Add Discord link to main menu
Hey Rez,
Now that this game is officially released, for players who are not involved with wilds, can you make a link with the Discord on the menu. It will make it easier for people to join it. Thanks ;)
add other animals
Currently food is the hardest resource to get in my games, It would nice to find other means of getting food besides rabbits, grass, and treasure.
list of current warriors
Is it possible to add a list of all tribe members with all info (hp and accesories) in top left corner of screen? When I recruit, the short timing allows me to give the newbie a weapon but when I want to give them a second item, a helmet or whatever, they already got lost in the crowd and it's hard to find them. This is specially harmful in battle environments, where speed would improve the experience.
By having a horizontal list of all tribe members with their info, it's pretty easy to know what weapons do I have and I don't, which warriors have more hp and which ones are about to die, which warriors have helmet/shield, and corresponding accesory assigning would be a lot faster.
Anyway, love your game, already a fan of it.
End Game
At the moment it's hard to find a reason to continue playing after you've maxed out your tribe and have taken control of the map. I'm not sure what the solution is, but it might be nice to think about some things around the end game.
