Is it normal that bandits join to my army and follow my totem?

sometimes i can't pick up gold, not sure why

that gold is uncollectable

as you can see, my hand is covering the gold, if i take my hand away from the gold, it will still not collect

So, I saw that the witch hat was added and gave you an extra health, but when there is already another item that gives +1 health, the hood. This makes it really is kinda pointless to have. But first, when I bought the witch hat, it never showed up on the right side of my screen and I did not have anything happen to my troops. Instead of giving troops +1 health, about have the option to make them slightly stronger like +5% stronger (does 5% more damage) and the next item could be 10% and the last 15%. This would be a great item to get when you level up instead of having two of the same item.
