This is the designed struggle for the game, the game makes it so it is hard to start up but easy to plummet to your demise.

I was thinking the same thing, chances are it is for decoration.

The way he "explains" his thinking portrays it as an idea more so than a glitch.

I like the idea and in great favor of it, but bugs should be a number one priority as of now.
