Relentless pursuit is a little tiring...

Once you come across a group stronger than yours, you can either fight and die, or run and have the NPCs chase you around the map several times before they eventually kill you. It's really silly how its basically game over when you run into a stronger band. I suggest that they lose interest and stop pursuing faster.

It's not game over when you come across a stronger tribe. If you have a smaller tribe, you can out-run bigger tribes. This is a mechanic to ensure that people with weaker tribes do not get wrecked immediately as long as they know what they are doing.
